LA Street Style w/ Fashion to Figure
Some of my favorite photoshoots to do are the super informal, run and gun street style projects where it pays to be flexible and able to adapt quickly.
On my most recent trip to LA, I was fortunate enough to work with one of my favorite clients, a curve womenswear brand called Fashion to Figure. Normally we shoot on location in New York City, where we’re both based, but that gets difficult when the mercury drops below 40 degrees and the threat of snow constantly throws off our plans. So FTF assembled an amazing team in LA, where the weather was picture perfect, and invited me to take photos with them for two days.
What I love about full day shoots focusing on street style is that the entire aesthetic is fluid and constantly evolving. The above-left photo, for example, was made near the end of the day when the sun was setting. I love how the purple and magenta hues of the sunset gave the model this really vibrant pop of color. The above-right and header photo, on the other hand, were shot closer to mid-day and feel a bit more straightforward and “clean”.
We shot something like 8-10 looks and one of my favorites was this black top and denim jeans look on a Beverly Hills street. There was a massive neon pink sign casting this really beautiful glow and it reminded me a lot of HBO’s Euphoria.
It was a long but super fun day, and I can’t wait to get back out to LA again.
